o I did the math on what I would be spend in gasoline to drive back and forth to work for a month. At 50.7 miles one way (101.4) round trip. I’m going to be driving over 2000 miles a month. That translates to roughly 240 dollars a month if I buy gas near my place. Much higher if I buy it closer to work. In any case I get around 24 ish mpg normally so I decided to see what mileage I could get today by hypermiling it. This is only one way for this mornings leg so I will get a more accurate picture as time goes on. Its not bad but I should be able to do better. It’s fun trying to eek out every drop from a heavy automatic v6 car from 2004 on twisty roads. A manual would definitely be helpful though. I’m contemplating going full hyper miler and attempting to decrease drag and weight.

According to Wiki it’s 2,750 lbs, but I gather they’re actually around 2,500.

Interested to see where this goes.

I’d suspect you’d be able to stretch that further, but I haven’t tried to hyper mile in a long time. I remember I squeezed out mid 40s in my focus a long time ago. Manual and lots of speedy  trucks on my late night drive.

If it’s only you in this car, then you can do the following to increase fuel economy:

1. Increase tire pressure by 5lbs.

2.Remove weight: back seat, hubcaps, junk in trunk etc... Keep the spare tire and jack, you may need it.

You're in Ohio right? Do the Ohio BMV BRS course. It was great, and cheap.

Meanwhile I was managing 23mpg on the highway this weekend using the rental 5.7L Challenger I rented and thought that was some hypermiling. Exhaust sound was too addicting to keep that up off the highway though. Sport mode sounded very good echoing off of underpass walls.
